The Process Operations Apprentice

Name: Aaron Naismith

Aaron Naismith is a second-year Process Operations Apprentice on the APTUS Apprenticeship programme, from Grangemouth but currently based in Aberdeen. Through his apprenticeship, he is gaining practical experience in energy operations, building skills that support the safe and efficient running of processing systems.

Since entering the sector, Aaron has developed a strong understanding of how energy operations work in practice. His training combines hands-on learning with technical knowledge, helping him build confidence and capability in a safety-critical environment. This means he is developing skills that can be applied across a range of roles within the industry.

Aaron brings a perspective shaped by changing careers and entering energy from a different background. His experience shows that there are multiple entry points into the sector, and that people with varied skills and experiences can find a place and succeed.

As a My Energy Future Champion, Aaron is focused on encouraging others to consider a career in energy. By sharing his journey, he helps show that it is possible to transition into the sector and build a new career path, while developing skills and confidence along the way.
