Is this the right role for you?

Sourcing the energy mix of the future is going to need…

Offshore Ornithologist

As an Offshore Ornithologist in the energy industry, you’ll help our renewable energy capacity to grow in harmony with the natural world. Ornithologists study birds, where they live and how they behave, so you could help protect their habitat during construction of offshore wind farms and coastal wave installations. You might make direct observations about population numbers and migratory patterns, study research or share reports with wind-farm planners.

Offshore Ornithologists usually work for specialist consultancies and will provide advice and support to companies who need expert environmental input while they plan and manage offshore and coastal installations. You might work in an office environment for planning and data analysis, and visit coastal and onshore sites to study the wildlife directly.

Whether you’re giving a presentation on the species of bird found along a particular coastline or checking in on the health of a colony you’ve studied, as an Offshore Ornithologist, you’ll be helping to protect the animals that live alongside our clean energy production facilities of the future.
