Is this the right role for you?

Sourcing the energy mix of the future is going to need…

Data Scientist

As a Data Scientist in the energy industry, you’ll help people make smarter decisions and provide safer, more reliable energy. You’ll collect, process and analyse raw data on anything from oil flow rates to the hours of sunlight absorbed by a solar panel.

Based on the data you’re collecting, you’ll make decisions on how it should be analysed, using techniques including algorithms, data mining, artificial intelligence, machine learning and statistical analysis, and the best way to present your results to help people understand them.

Data Scientists often use sophisticated computer analysis tools, are usually office based and are sometimes known as Data Analysts. As more organisations try to use data to improve their decision making, we expect there will be more and more opportunities for people who love collecting, analysing and making decisions based on data.

Whether you’re writing a new algorithm to help you crunch the numbers or using advanced data visualisation techniques to help people understand what you’ve learned, as a Data Scientist, you’ll be delivering a more efficient energy supply through more informed decision making.
