Is this the right role for you?

Sourcing the energy mix of the future is going to need…

Petroleum Geologist

As a Petroleum Geologist in the energy industry, you could help find natural reserves of energy like oil and gas that lie underground. Once you’ve studied scientific data about the reserves you’ve found, you would identify the best way to get as much of the oil and gas out of the ground as possible.

Petroleum Geologists work in offices while they study scientific data and make plans, and also visit outdoor locations all around the world to study the physical landscape. You might work directly for an energy producer or for a specialist geoscience consultancy.

Whether you’re presenting your scientific research to your colleagues or making plans for test drilling into a new site, as a Petroleum Geologist, you’ll be helping meet the energy needs the world has now while we work to introduce more renewable energy sources.
